RECREATIONAL SWIM PERIOD

The recreational swim period is an integral and fun part of Kid Explorer Multi-Sport Camp and Connect. Create. Discover. Campers enjoy daily recreational swim, which gives them time to have fun, cool off and play in the pool under the direct supervision of our trained lifeguards and aquatics staff. Our recreational swim period goals are to maintain safety and uphold the pool rules at all times, as well as to create a fun environment for campers to enjoy their own recreational swim and/or self-organized pool games (ie: “Marco, Polo”).

WATER PLAY

Water play is a fun way for campers to cool off in the middle of the day. The water play activity will vary throughout the week, but will always be a fun and active way for campers to cool down from the summer heat.

MANDATORY SWIM TEST

Kid Explorer tests campers for two reasons:

The mandatory swim test determines which campers can safely swim in the pool without a swim vest during recreational swim. The test involves swimming approximately 25 yards, unassisted, and without touching the pool wall or lap lane.

On the first day of camp Kid Explorer Camps swim-tests each camper who wants to participate in swimming. Once a camper passes our swim test they are no longer required to take the test again that summer.

If a camper does not pass the swim test or opts out of the test, school facility/pool rules state he or she must either 1) not swim that day or 2) swim with a swim vest.

Campers who do not pass or opt out of the swim test always have the opportunity to take the test again on the following day.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Swimming and water play are not mandatory. Parents and campers can opt out of swimming or water play any and all days if they desire. Kid Explorer always offers campers an alternative activity during pool time, but asks that campers leave playing cards and electronics at home, pursuant to our policies on what to bring to camp.
